Urban Agriculture
Urban agriculture (UA) is a broad term for food cultivation and animal husbandry on urban and peri-urban land (Tornaghi, 2014). Urban agriculture started in the 19th century and gained popularity worldwide (Batt and Paschapur, 2020). There are nine forms of urban agriculture: home gardens, allotment gardens, community gardens, community-supported agriculture, commercial, vertical agriculture, edible landscaping, rooftop gardening, and informal agriculture (Nicholls et al., 2020), aquaponics and hydroponics; two more added to the list. Below are some interviews with urban farmers involved in farming activities on the Yamuna floodplains of Delhi. |
